Zedge Premium Artist Interview: MRGOOD

Q: Who are you and where are you located?

A: Hi! 😊We're Jelena and Denis, based in Europe, and we work under the label MRGOOD, focusing on design and creative projects. We do everything together, from daily activities and business responsibilities to pursuing our hobbies.

Q: What kind of art do you make?

A: We have a deep love for art in all its forms. Professionally, we focus primarily on fashion and artistic photography, while as a hobby, we enjoy experimenting with various forms of digital art, interior design, applied arts, and more.

Q: What else do you do for a living, if anything? What % of your income comes from that vs. your art?

A: Nearly 20 years ago, we founded a private company that has grown into a successful and well-recognized player in the global market. We collaborate with companies from the U.S., China, Japan, Italy, Spain, the U.K., France, Germany, and more. We are proud of our partnerships with some of the world’s most renowned brands in the fashion and gaming industries.

In addition, we are deeply focused on working with young people, fostering their talents, and supporting their education.

We’d also like to mention that our expertise extends to management, mediation, legal representation, and marketing.

The majority of our income comes from our core business, which allows us the financial freedom and ample time to explore other interests and hobbies. This gives us the opportunity to experiment with creative projects that we find both enjoyable and inspiring.

Q: What tools do you use most in your work, and how has that changed over time?

A: As the world evolves rapidly and technology advances at an increasing pace, we continuously explore ways to leverage these changes to streamline and accelerate our work processes. While some skills are irreplaceable, we appreciate that certain knowledge and craftsmanship remain unique to the artist—something that sets them apart and can never be taken away.

On the other hand, AI is progressing at an astonishing rate, simplifying decision-making processes, enhancing the experimental phases of ideas, and aiding in the creation of specific elements

Q: How and when did you first discover Zedge Premium?

A: It was in March of 2021. Our friend recommended it to us.

Q: How many profile pages do you have in Zedge? How many items do you upload each day/week/month on average?

A: Oh, only God knows! A lot… LOL. There's no set schedule when it comes to uploading—it all depends on inspiration and free time. Sometimes we might upload dozens in a day, while other times, we might go days without posting anything at all.

Q: How much money do you make from Zedge in an average week/month/year?

A: We estimate our total earnings from Zedge so far to be somewhere between $70,000 and $100,000.

Q: What are some of your most successful works with Zedge users? How much has each one earned you?

A: If the number of downloads is the measure of success, then PINHEAD DOLL (>151,000 downloads), GAME OVER (>118,000 downloads), BABY ASTRONAUT MOON (>106,000 downloads) and YIN YANG (>93,000 downloads) are some of our most successful wallpapers.

Q: What are some of your favorite recent pieces of work that are available on Zedge?

A: It's not easy to answer that question. It's akin to asking parents which of their children is their favorite 😊

Q: What’s surprised you about Zedge users? Has anything about them changed your approach to your work?

A: There’s nothing particularly surprising when it comes to Zedge users. With such a large user base, we expect every form of behavior. We want to thank everyone who has chosen our wallpapers for their phone backgrounds. We hope they’ve brightened their days!

Q: What tips or tricks do you have for other Zedge artists?

A: Art is not a competition. The creation of art stems from personal inspiration, emotions, and mood. Copying what is popular at any given moment does not constitute the creation of art; it leads to the production of kitsch. The world we live in is filled with kitsch, raising the question of whether kitsch exists because people consume it, or if people consume it because it exists. In any case, overproduction leads to a decline in quality and/or revenue, resulting in an increased 'struggle for survival.' Artists should focus on their own work rather than on what others are doing.
